The Negative Impacts of Favoritism in Dance

Presenter(s)

Jaclynn Ahl

Abstract or Description

With dance being a highly competitive sport as it is, dancers are naturally divided into favorites, and the others. But is this good for the dancers mental health? The answer is no. It is important to spread the awareness on favoritism in the classroom, to educate dance teachers on how and why they should prevent this in the classroom.

This seems to do a lot of harm. What can be dome to repair this behavior, prevention is most effective but what can be done in classrooms now to those who are a victim of favoritism? And what are the counter arguments to those who say it motivates other students to do better? This is supper interesting since I wanted to dance an would not like this in a class I am in.
