Hosted on Symposium by ForagerOne
Welcome to our eighth annual Three-Minute Research Talk (3MRT) Symposium, the culminating event of our summer Speak Up! series!
Speak Up! features communication workshops designed to help our summer undergraduate researchers learn how to communicate effectively about their research to non-expert audiences. The series culminates with the 3MRT, where students are allowed only one static slide and three minutes to explain - in accessible language - the focus of their research, what they have uncovered, and why it is important.
Our 3MRT this year will feature asynchronous pre-recorded presentations, which you can view according to your own schedule and as often as you like starting at 8:00 am EDT on Monday, July 22nd through 5:00 pm EDT on Friday, July 21st.
This year’s undergraduate researchers represent the cutting edge of many research areas, including materials science, philosophy, developmental psychology, and much, much more. Their 3MRTs will showcase the contributions being made by Carnegie Mellon students, students participating in summer REUs at Carnegie Mellon, and their faculty and graduate student mentors.
Please take some time to view and comment on students’ presentations. Your thoughtful feedback and your active participation in the 3MRT Symposium will help them to become better communicators and to meet the needs of diverse audiences. We appreciate your participation in this event, and your support of our students as they develop their research communication skills.
Instructions for Viewing the 3MRT Presentations:
Along the top menu you will see a ‘Presentations’ link. This link will take you to all of the student presentations, where you can click on an individual page to view a student’s work. Projects can be filtered using the menus on the left. You can also search for a presenter’s name or presentation title.
Anyone can view the presentations, but you will be asked to create an account in order to provide comments. Registration takes only a minute and does not require a CMU email.
Any questions can be directed to Jen Weidenhof at [email protected].
