"If I were asked to define Motherhood. I would have defined it as 'Love in its purest form. Unconditional love.'" -Revathi Sankaran
The beauty of motherhood encompasses the joys and overwhelming love of first holding a newborn in your arms to the patience and sacrifice made to provide unconditional support, laughter, and happiness to new life. Given the opportunity to experience the birthing and postpartum aspects of motherhood in Morocco, the cultural traditions and customs set this experience apart from other cultural societies. While joy, happiness, and celebration remain common, traditional Moroccan culture has six stages of Moroccan Postpartum: the Welcome, the Honor, the Nourishment, the Nurture, the Close, and the Celebration. In this artistic dedication to the women who shared their birthing experiences with me during my time in Morocco, I present the strength and grandeur of a cultural tradition in "Motherhood in Morocco: A Story of Life, Love, Resilience, and Beauty."
