59A. The effect of routine turning schedules on developing pressure ulcers
Grace Ridlen
Grace Ridlen, Janae Waller
Hospitalized adults are at risk for developing pressure ulcers during their hospital stay. This risk increases if patients have mobility restrictions or limitations. In hospitalized adults, does implementing a Q2-hour turning schedule compared to a Q4-hour turning schedule result in a decreased incidence of developing pressure ulcers within a four week time period? If patients are turned and mobilized more often, they are at a decreased risk for developing a pressure ulcer. The next step is to implement an every 2 hour turning schedule for hospitalized patients over a 4 week time period, and compare these patient outcomes with those who receive the standard of care 4 hour turning schedule.
