Abstract or Description

Mary Ellen Richmond was born August 5, 1861, in Belleville, Illinois. ​Mary developed the need for diagnosis and research before care is provided. She also put a lot of her focus into increasing the public’s attention on The Charity Organization Society (COS) and to push forward the profession of social work​.
