Poster Session B: 2:30-3:45pm (Valders/SHL)
Nearly 80% of plastics created are released into the environment, and there is no easy way for these plastics to degrade. Piscinibacter sakaiensis is a gram-negative bacteria that is able to consume PET plastic, albeit at a slow rate. Our goal of this project was to evolve P. sak to consume PET at a higher rate under 5mM and 10 mM sodium phosphate conditions.
