r/From Forums to Findings: An Exploration of Incel Radicalization
Michelle Vasquez
Imagine a growing online community where men feel isolated and frustrated in their romantic lives, turning to extremist ideologies that blame women and society for their struggles. Our research project aims to unpack the incel subculture, a group of 60,000 to 100,000 individuals, focusing on how the internet fosters radicalization. By conducting qualitative analyses of online forums and distributing surveys to participants, we will explore men’s attitudes towards misogyny, violence, and community participation. This study not only fills a crucial gap in understanding online radicalization but also seeks to inform strategies for countering extremist ideologies. Ultimately, our work aims to promote safer online environments and prevent the rise of radical misogyny among young men. Join us in uncovering the dynamics behind this pressing social issue!
