My hypothesis was if water is usually what people give their plants and it works well then the other liquids will not grow well because other liquids have other chemicals in them that won’t work to grow the plants. So to test my hypothesis, I took 10 planters and filled them with soil, then put the sunflower seeds in and gave them different liquids which were, saltwater, carbonated water, fresh water, apple cider vinegar, gatorade. As the plants grew I measured them and put the results in a table. I noticed after growing all the plants that water and carbonated water grew and the other plants didn’t grow at all. With research I was able to find out that liquids with too much sugar or salt would kill the plants so that is why nothing grew except for water and carbonated water. Now if too much sugar kills a plant then why did the carbonated water live? Well it's because if you give a plant the right amount of sugar it will benefit the plant and help it grow. So that is why carbonated water ended up growing more. A problem with the experiment was that I would have to take in the plants from outside because of the cold weather and through transporting them you can drop some of the seeds out of the planter and not even realize. So in the end my hypothesis was partially correct that the water grew the plant but so did carbonated water.
