Mosaic
Nicole Guccione
Kirr Commons - Window Side; 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Nicole Guccione presented Mosaic, a euphonium recital and intersectional art exhibit at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. As artists, many of us create socially conscious artwork and use art as a means for social justice and exploration of identity. This event highlighted some of the beautiful ways in which artists incorporate the theme of Intersectionality into their artwork. Mosaic encompassed both Guccione’s senior recital of euphonium repertoire all written by composers of marginalized identities, paired with a gallery of intersectionality-themed artworks contributed by several Carnegie Mellon students, curated by Guccione. The art showcase included gender-bending costume design, drag art, a collage of written activism, visual art exploring body neutrality and femininity, agroecological architectural design, queer art, a community mural of underrepresented voices, and more.
