Reviewing Race and Ethnicity in Outdoor Recreation

Presenter(s)

Jerome Hamilton

Status of Project

Completed Project

Abstract or Description

The purpose of this qualitative project is to analyze the structures of recent studies on outdoor recreation and demographics and understand their findings that surround race and ethnicity. Study type, definitions, and operationalizations for these research projects matter when discussing disparities in outdoor recreation as they lead to different outcomes. Deeply understanding these results and the skeleton of these studies can make policy targeted toward specific groups that are not recreating more effective and lead to successful campaigns for increasing target population participation.
