I like how you took a song that’s old but made it relate to the current time period.
I also agree with our country entering a new era of racism. It’s unfortunate that our country is more racist that ever since we have trump pulling the reins. Now that he lost the election hopefully some justice will be restored, though we do need to still keep fighting as racism and discrimination won’t just go away once Biden is in the White House! Great presentation.

Thank you for this; I am not an expert on music, but I increasingly find it useful in my teaching. And some other works by Black Eyed Peas have certainly found their way into my classes. I'll be sure to give this song a listen!

Hi Megan! Great choice to discuss music, it's no doubt that it's a powerful tool for sending messages in lyrics. It's very difficult to think today where we would all be without music. Regardless of what genre in any way, everyone can agree that they like music. As an ethnic minority myself, I can agree with many of the facts you discussed amongst white privilege being what divides America if action is not taken. The song you chose chooses to discuss sensitive topics in the real world that people are often too shy of to talk about, but can't deny their existence being present. Overall, your I took away a lot from what you had to say and it was all very well done. You send a great message, great job!

Hi Megan, I enjoyed watching your video about music and its impact on race and gender. Sometimes I think it goes over people heads that the power music and lyrics can have in the world. I agree with a lot of the things you said about white privilege and how our country is becoming more divided. Good job!

Hi Meg, Great job presenting you were so clear and concise with your speech! I grew up loving the Black Eyed Peas so I was excited to watch what you had to say. I think it’s crazy, and sad, how this song was released 17 years ago and still applies so well to today. You did a really great job of bringing in our book from COMM300 and applying what we learned directly to the messages we get from Where Is The Love’s lyrics. I think my favorite part was how you discussed how many, white, people believe that racism is over and also how the education system in America is directly related to one’s class/socioeconomic standing. It reminds me of “redlining” and how these areas that have higher POC residents aren’t lower class because the residents are POC but because the system didn’t give them the same opportunities as white residents.

Hi Megan!! You did a great job at connecting the concepts of race, class, and gender in music, relating to what we learned in the course with a title of the same name. This song has always been sort of moving, but it is greatly disappointing to know and understand that it still feels so relevant to listen to right now. I mean, seriously, we are in the middle of a pandemic, facing uprisings against racial injustice, etc. Your presentation does an excellent job at discussing this. Great job!

Hi Megan! I like the topic you chose for your presentation here and I can see how it relates back to our class perfectly. You are correct in the fact that we need to expose our faults as a country because by doing so I believe that we can become a more welcoming society. Just like our book, "How to be an Anti-Racist" taught me, there is so much bias we have in intersectionalities and by doing some self-reflection we can become better people.

Hi Megan, this is a song that actually came out while I was in high school. I agree with you that it is kind of crazy that messages from almost two decades ago are still needing repeating today. However, messages from almost 60 years ago seem to continue to need to be repeated. I hope that in the future generations are able to look back on songs like these as examples of society needing to change, and hopefully won't need them to be as relevant then.

Hi Megan! I like how you referenced the song Where Is The Love because it is a song that is well known in our generation yet has such a strong meaning behind it. Unfortunately, like you said, the song still relates to the world today, seeing as there is racism and discrimination that is still taking place. Music is a good outlet to learn about these problems in the world and there are a lot of artists that incorporate the topics of race and discrimination to show awareness. This is America, like you mentioned, was another song that just recently became poplar again because it relates to the injustices occurring today. Overall, awesome presentation!

Hi Megan! I love this song and found it really cool that you went into depth on how it is related to themes of race and class. Like you mentioned in your video, I have seen many videos supporting the BLM movement in the past few months, using this song as an audio. I also agree with what you said about how this was released almost two decades ago, and we still find ourselves today asking "where is the love?" Between racism, inequality, police brutality, and many more, the world is full of hate and something needs to change.

Hi Megan- I really enjoyed how you took the message from this song and related it to the ongoing issues in our country today. Music is such a powerful tool in fueling emotions within people. Therefore, using it to bring awareness to issues that are bigger than just ourselves is so important and in my opinion, should be done more often. It is also definitely something to think about that this song came out 17 years ago and is still extremely relevant today.
