Oral Presentation
During pregnancy, individuals are susceptible to new health concerns due to the biological and psychological factors involved in creating and sustaining life. Non-pharmacological methods can provide effective treatment for the needs that emerge during pregnancy. One non-pharmacological treatment used is music-based interventions, which can provide both physiologically and psychologically non-invasive care. Prior to developing an intervention or providing treatment for a population, a deeper understanding of the existing literature is necessary. Music-based interventions are emerging as a non-pharmacological intervention for women hospitalized during pregnancy due to health-related concerns placing them at-risk for negative health and birth outcomes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to conduct a scoping review to explore the use and effectiveness of music-based intervention in non-pharmacological studies for pregnant individuals in acute medical settings. We will report how the included literature defines of music-based intervention, the quality of intervention reporting and replicability, and the primary maternal psychological and biological health needs addressed in music-based interventions.
